„Oanfoch guat“ – simply good – that’s what it says on the website of Café Restaurant Zentral. And these two words say it all, as Mrs. Oktavia Egger from Collalbo emphasizes.
The Egger family are regular guests at the Zentral, and as Mrs. Egger explains, there are many reasons why:
“We love the simple, clean interior. Sitting in the garden under the linden tree is also something special. Sometimes a leaf or blossom falls onto the plate – and it’s just beautiful. The hostess Wally and her two team members, Jasmin and Daniela, are always friendly and in good spirits. The food is prepared with great care by chef Markus, using quality ingredients, fresh vegetables from local farms – a feast for the eyes, light and absolutely delicious.”
Mrs. Egger adds:
“The apple cake at the Zentral reminds me of my childhood. What could be more wonderful?”

Markus and Wally Pechlaner reopened the Zentral in May 2019 with a completely new, modern, and stylish design – the concept was created by Messner Architects.
Before they took over the Zentral, it had been leased out for many years. Not only the locals in Collalbo were thrilled to see it reopened after a quiet period – the Zentral simply belongs at the heart of the village.

Markus and Wally place great value on offering honest, flavorful cuisine. Even the juices used in their cocktails are made from berries and fruit they pick and process themselves.
Markus, who enjoys spending his free time outdoors in nature just like his wife, is also a passionate hunter – which is why wild game dishes often appear on the menu.
His philosophy is to use as many local ingredients as possible, crafting simple yet flavorful dishes from high-quality products.

The inviting atmosphere of the café and restaurant – and in summer, the large and small terraces – makes guests want to linger.
Of course, everyone is welcome, whether you’re stopping by for a quick coffee or treating yourself to a homemade slice of cake.
The house-made ice cream is also a big hit with guests:“Whether it’s a cone to go or a sundae in the garden – homemade ice cream always tastes good,” says Wally, adding that she herself also loves a good tschelato.

Wally & Markus hope the Zentral will continue to be a warm and enjoyable meeting place – for locals as well as visitors from all over South Tyrol and the world.
