Over the years we've lived here, we've had the chance to enjoy many regional delicacies in numerous local restaurants spread across the 111 km² of the high plateau. We can honestly say the culinary offering is impressive, diverse, and always at its best.
Every restaurant has its own story to tell—from its origins to the present day. A story that has grown together with the place itself. Objectively, it’s hard to name just “one” favorite spot, simply because each one is so individual and special. Each place has a unique identity you can experience and enjoy—while savoring delicious food. On the other hand, many of these places share one beautiful common feature: the incredible view.
Still, we’d love to tell you about our most recent experience, when we spent a magical evening with a couple of friends—an experience that felt especially authentic. It was a Saturday evening in June in Lengstein, the easternmost village on the plateau. That’s where we visited Lengsteinerhof.
What makes this place special is its simplicity and friendliness, paired with good food and a well-balanced menu that includes both traditional and non-traditional dishes—yes, even Wiener schnitzel.
That’s it—nothing more needs to be said! The satisfied look in our friends’ eyes said it all. We really enjoyed it.
It’s exactly this simplicity, the welcoming atmosphere you find in the dining rooms or cozy parlors of most restaurants on the Ritten, the friendly smiles and heartfelt hospitality, that make them so unique. We often recommend switching up your dining spots precisely because of that uniqueness.
