Visiting Friends

for 80 Years

A very special guest tribute recently took place at Hotel Geyrerhof in Oberbozen. Ms. Donatella Greppi has been a guest on the Ritten for 80 years.

She first came in 1941, just four years old, traveling with her parents from Milan to the Ritten. She recalls that her parents loved the mountains, especially the Dolomites. It’s no surprise, then, that they felt so comfortable on our sunny plateau surrounded by the magnificent Dolomite landscape. Just like her parents, Ms. Donatella enjoys walks through the forest, good food, breathtaking views, and highly values the South Tyrolean hospitality.

That evening, Ms. Donatella looked back on 80 years of memories from the Ritten, sharing stories from her childhood and youth. In 1972, she visited the Ritten for the first time with her entire family, and since the late 1970s, they have been staying at Hotel Geyrerhof. “Anyone who visits the Ritten once will always return,” say these loyal guests with conviction. Over the years, much has changed—there were joyful and sorrowful moments—but what has remained, Ms. Donatella notes, is her deep love for the Ritten, which she has also passed on to her children. It’s no coincidence that one of her daughters chose the Ritten as the dream destination for her honeymoon.

80 years of visiting the Ritten, with guests now in the fifth generation returning to the same vacation spot—that is truly something special, remarked the president of the Ritten Tourism Association. Wolfgang Holzner and the Ramoser family from the Geyrerhof expressed their gratitude to Ms. Donatella and her family for their long-standing loyalty.

When people return to their holiday destination for so many years, the saying “visiting friends” becomes a reality. We are truly delighted and wish Ms. Donatella and her family many more wonderful holiday moments on our high plateau, moments that will brighten everyday life back home.
