To the white earth pyramids in Auna di Sotto

Have you seen the new lookout platform yet?

On Renon there are earth pyramids to marvel at in three places. Recently, a new lookout platform was built in Auna di Sotto, from which one can admire the natural spectacle in all its splendour.
Today we want to do a hike from the small village Auna di Sotto to Siffiano. We are on a stage of the famous chestnut trail. From the centre of the village we follow the signpost with the symbol of the chestnut and reach an apple orchard. After that the actual trail through the forest begins. Lush green, fresh air, peace and quiet: hardly anything is as suitable for switching off and recharging your batteries as a walk in the forest. It swallows the sounds of the surroundings and after a while our ears open again to pick up the sounds of the forest: the tock-tock of a woodpecker in the distance or a "cuckoo-cuckoo", a rustling here and there.

At the small creek we catch a glimpse of the earth pyramids and shortly afterwards a signpost shows us the turnoff to the lookout platform. It goes steeply up, but after about three minutes we are already there and are very close to the natural wonder. I have made a small video of it for you. Here is the perfect place for a little picnic, the benches invite you to rest and relax.

Afterwards, the hike continues on the chestnut trail, past the Bliemler and Tasegger farms. That the path is not only attractive during the "Törggele" period, but also in spring, is proven by the beautiful flowers that can be found along the way. Again and again the view of the Sciliar mountain and the Valle Isarco opens up. Then the path goes steeply down to the Stegerbach, we cross a wooden bridge and then the path goes back uphill. The vineyards of the farm Rielingerhof are already in sight. It is about 3.5 kilometres to this point with about 140 metres in altitude. The way back is like the way there or you can walk up to the village of Collalbo and take the bus back. You can also continue the hike to Longostagno.
