Pure Pleasure at Puro – Gloriette Guesthouse

My favorite spot on the Ritten

“Fresh, young, and yet with a touch of nostalgia – very special, with a wonderful atmosphere!”
This is how a regular guest describes the Gloriette Guesthouse in Soprabolzano (Oberbozen).

Gloriette Guesthouse – that’s the name chosen by the Alber family, who reopened the former Pension Fink in the summer of 2018 with a completely new look and fresh ideas. The new hosts are Andreas Alber and his wife Julika.

“A gloriette is a small building in a garden, usually located on a raised site to serve as a visual focal point (point de vue). Gloriettes are mainly decorative structures, particularly popular in the 17th to 19th centuries,” we read on Wikipedia.
But the Gloriette created by the Alber family in Soprabolzano is much more than just a decorative focal point. It is a guesthouse made for comfort, enjoyment, and a deep love of detail — something you can feel at the reception, in the bar, the dining room, on the terrace, in the stairwell, in the garden… simply everywhere.

Historically, gloriettes were also small pleasure pavilions in parks, where the nobility hosted grand celebrations – as also mentioned on the Gloriette Guesthouse’s website.
And it’s not just the name that’s a nod to the Ritten’s (Renon’s) tradition of summer retreats.
Andi & Julika Alber want their Gloriette to be a place where pleasure takes center stage – a meeting point for global citizens, local Bozen personalities, Ritten locals, South Tyrol explorers, and all those who enjoy refined experiences in a stylish atmosphere.

It’s no coincidence that, in early April, the Puro Fine Dining restaurant opened its doors at the Gloriette Guesthouse.

New name, new ideas – but not an entirely new chef...
Thomas Tutzer, a native of Sarntal and 2017 WorldSkills champion in the cooking category (Abu Dhabi), has returned to Gloriette. He now leads Puro as head chef and explains:

“By Puro, we mean pure enjoyment of food and the unadulterated taste of high-quality ingredients.
The restaurant is meant to be a retreat for people who want to enjoy honest, high-quality cuisine in a relaxed, laid-back setting, free from constraints and pretension.
It’s a place shaped by tradition and Italian ease.
For us, fine dining doesn’t mean a typical gourmet restaurant, but a gathering spot for people who love great food and drink.
Combined with our unique location, we want Puro to become part of South Tyrol’s young and vibrant culinary scene.
We aim to achieve this with refined dishes, creatively reinterpreted and presented in a new way.
For us, it’s simplicity that has the power to move and inspire people.”
