The Alpine Manifesto

Ten Principles for Respecting the Mountains

The Alps are home to landscapes, traditions, and stories that have evolved over generations. Everyone who visits becomes part of a living region shared by local communities, wildlife, and nature.
The Alpine Manifesto invites visitors to discover this unique heritage with care and awareness. Its ten simple principles provide practical guidance for exploring the Alpine environment in a well-prepared, respectful, and responsible way.

Whether you're hiking along scenic trails, cycling on suitable routes (more than 1.5 metres wide), enjoying a day on the slopes, or simply relaxing in nature, every experience is an opportunity to contribute—through small, mindful actions—to a harmonious coexistence between guests, residents, and the natural environment.

The Ritten Tourist Association supports this initiative and encourages both visitors and residents to discover the Alpine Manifesto and embrace its principles.
