After we received the highest and globally recognised GSTC award for sustainable tourism last April, we also got the certification "South Tyrol Sustainability Label" a few days ago.
The certification process for destinations is similar to the one for accommodations. In the case of destinations, four major areas are closely scrutinised: sustainable management, socio-economic, cultural and ecological sustainability. The commitment to sustainable development in South Tyrol is given greater visibility by the South Tyrol Sustainability Label. This label is awarded to destinations and accommodation establishments after they comply with certain criteria, implement measures and successfully pass the audits.
The specially developed sustainability standard for South Tyrol is based on the criteria of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), an international organisation that has defined one of the world's most reliable, certifiable and therefore most credible standards for sustainable tourism and sustainable travel.
