Curling’s big sister

With its origins likely attributed to Scandinavia, ice stock sport looks back onto a long tradition on the Renon mountain. At the Lago di Costalovara pond, competitions were carried out already at the end of the 19th century. Today, some villages host local tournaments every winter, and they are very popular.
On the professional level, ice stock sport is considered an accuracy sport and is subdivided into team, distance and target competitions. The Ice Rink Renon and the Arena Ritten are highly popular amongst ice-stock pros because the local water’s composition allows for particularly fast shots. No wonder international competitions take place here time and again.
And so, this winter, Renon will host the 2016 Ice-Stock World Cup, from February 17 to 28.
